This Week's Update [5/31/15] - On Vacation

[The Weekly Update is an email that was started in the fall of 2010 to keep family and friends informed of my medical condition and has continued as a review of family activities.  Written by Zelma and edited by Steve. Working on adding past issues to the blog.]

Hi All,

Although it didn't feel much like summer vacation with steady rain and temps in the 40's, we did head off this morning for a week long break.  We (Steve, myself, GJ, and Matthew) are visiting Sarah, Mike and Olivia - otherwise known as visiting Olivia and her parents :-).  Olivia has grown up so much since we last saw her in December!

We did bring the bikes on vacation - hopefully the weather drys up and gets a bit warmer.

Miles for the week are 48, miles for 2015 are 1570, and total miles are 13,824.

Take care,

Zelma

This Week's Update [5/24/15] - Happy Memorial Day

[The Weekly Update is an email that was started in the fall of 2010 to keep family and friends informed of my medical condition and has continued as a review of family activities.  Written by Zelma and edited by Steve. Working on adding past issues to the blog.]

Hi All,

This week flew by and I'm glad it is a 3 day weekend.  It gives us more time to deal with sorting out and putting away all of Matthew's stuff that came home from college last week and for cleaning, sorting, and figuring out what we want to do with all the stuff that we brought over from Steve's house.   The house officially went on the market Wednesday.  So far there has been a lot of shoppers but no serious buyers - yet.

Otherwise - we did get some riding in this week, including a very nice (but windy) ride on the canal today.  Steve made me retake the picture until we got the boat that was traveling on the canal in the background.

Miles for the week are 50, miles for 2015 are 1,522 and total miles are 13,776.

Take care,

Zelma

This Weeks Update [5/17/15] - Lots of Miles - No Riding

[The Weekly Update is an email that was started in the fall of 2010 to keep family and friends informed of my medical condition and has continued as a review of family activities.  Written by Zelma and edited by Steve. Working on adding past issues to the blog.]

Hi all,

I'm not sure if we had an appreciation of how much work it was going to be when I said in last week's update that we wanted to have Steve's house on the market within the next two weeks.  Fortunately everything has fallen into place to get ready and it will be on the market this Wednesday.

Since last Sunday, we've gotten a new stove installed, the garage door repaired, 3 car loads of donations to Goodwill, another visit from 1-800-GotJunk truck, the house cleaned from top to bottom, and about 10 trips from Spencerport to Victor moving stuff that needs to be sorted through; and in my spare time went to Oswego to pick up Matthew after he finished his last paper. I'm going to have to go back to work to get some rest!

Needless to say, the only miles this week were on the car.  :-)

The good news is the house looks great and should really present well to prospective buyers.  I've included a few pictures of how it looks. Seems to be a sellers market right now in Victor, so fingers crossed.

Take care,

Zelma

This Week's Update [5/10/15] - Happy Mother's Day

[The Weekly Update is an email that was started in the fall of 2010 to keep family and friends informed of my medical condition and has continued as a review of family activities.  Written by Zelma and edited by Steve. Working on adding past issues to the blog.]

Hi All,

We had a good week.  Monday, GJ and I went to Oswego to see Matthew be inducted into the Political Science Honor society.   It was a nice event and Matthew got to be treated to dinner afterwards  - for which he as grateful :-).  This week was his last week of classes and he has finals next week and 1 big paper left to finish before moving back home for the summer.

We completed interviewing realtors for listing Steve's house and are looking to have it on the market within the next 2 weeks. Fortunately, Dean [Locke Construction] and Jeff did an excellent job on the house, but there is still a garage full of "stuff" that needs to be sorted through and some miscellaneous things to take care of.  I think our riding time may be curtailed in the near term while we work on getting the house ready to sell.

Miles for the week are 35, miles for 2015 are 1,472, and total miles are 13,726.

Take care,

Zelma

This Week's Update [5/3/15] - Lots of Nice Weather

[The Weekly Update is an email that was started in the fall of 2010 to keep family and friends informed of my medical condition and has continued as a review of family activities.  Written by Zelma and edited by Steve. Working on adding past issues to the blog.]

Hi All,

After a scattering of snow the previous week, this week it looks like spring and nice weather may have arrived and plan to stay.  We were able to ride outside several days and sit on the deck and just relax.  Steve's brother-in-law Ron stopped by Thursday for a quick visit.  Ron is currently on a quest to find an ultra-light canoe and was in our area to check out Hemlock canoes on Friday.  Steve treated us to some great grilling for dinner - pork chops and pineapple.

The other big excitement for the week was another medical adventure for GJ.  She had tripped last weekend and landed on her hand - which at the time she didn't think anything had happened.  Early Monday morning, we ended up taking a trip to the emergency room because of pain and swelling.  She went home with a cast from her elbow to the end of her fingers and a "Carter pillow" to support what was a potentially fractured wrist.  A Carter pillow looks about like having Sponge Bob wrapped around your arm (see picture).

We ended up back at emergency Monday evening because of more swelling which had made the cast too tight and had to have it adjusted.  At the follow-up appointment with the hand specialist, it appears that it may just be badly bruised and she was able to trade out the larger cast for a smaller one.  We go back in 2 weeks and hopefully will be able to have the smaller one removed.

Now that the weather has finally turned nice, Steve put up his Christmas present to me in the back yard.  It is a very cool wind catcher that is a guy riding a bike.  When the wind blows the wheels spin.  Steve has apparently named him Lance.  :-)

Miles for the week are 73, miles for 2015 are 1,437, and total miles are 13,691.

Take care,

Zelma
