This Week's Update [11/29/15] - Happy Thanksgiving!

[The Weekly Update is an email that was started in the fall of 2010 to keep family and friends informed of my medical condition and has continued as a review of family activities.  Written by Zelma and edited by Steve. Working on adding past issues to the blog.]

Hi All,

It was a very nice week.  I had a couple of days off work, Matthew was home from school, Roger and Becky came for a visit, and we had lots of great things to eat for Thanksgiving!

The weather was relatively mild (not quite warm enough to ride outside - but we did take a walk after Thanksgiving dinner.)

Steve had his CT scan on Monday.  We get the results this next Tuesday.  Will keep everyone posted on the results.

Although Matthew had a lot of school work to do over the long weekend it was nice to have him home.  He went back today for one more week of classes and then finals week.

We were also able to rope Roger, Becky, and GJ into a Thanksgiving puzzle.  It was probably the most difficult one we have done so far as the picture on the box was too small to see the level of detail on the pieces that was required to assemble it.

We didn't take a special picture because we were riding inside, but we did cross the 3,000-mile mark for the year.  Miles for the week are 52, miles for 2015 are 3,023, and total miles are 15,277.

Take care,

Zelma

This Week's Update [11/22/15] - Getting Ready for Thanksgiving Cooking

[The Weekly Update is an email that was started in the fall of 2010 to keep family and friends informed of my medical condition and has continued as a review of family activities.  Written by Zelma and edited by Steve. Working on adding past issues to the blog.]

Hi All,

The days seem to be getting shorter at a very rapid rate.  I looked out the window at 5:15 this evening and it was close to complete darkness with a nearly full moon. :-(

Steve and I did another puzzle marathon on Friday night - picture attached.  Both of us have a hard time stopping even when it is really late.  We did end up having to give up and finish this on Saturday morning.

Steve has his next CT scan tomorrow and we'll get the results on 12/1.

We are looking forward to Thanksgiving.  Roger and Becky are coming for a visit and Becky and I have all sorts of things planned to cook.  Matthew will be home from college on Tuesday evening.  He'll then have another 2 weeks and then be home for Christmas.

Miles for the week are 66, miles for 2015 are 2,971 and total miles are 15,225.

Take care,

Zelma

This Week's Update [11/15/15] - Back Home

[The Weekly Update is an email that was started in the fall of 2010 to keep family and friends informed of my medical condition and has continued as a review of family activities.  Written by Zelma and edited by Steve. Working on adding past issues to the blog.]

Hi All,

We wrapped up our visit with the kids and returned home on Monday. After having been off for a few days work was crazy - so there were a couple of days I got home too late to ride.  However, it apparently wasn't too late to start a puzzle :-)  (Not the best idea on a weeknight).  This one reminded me of the old time boats and lodges from the Adirondacks.

Miles for the week are 39, miles for 2015 are 2,905 and total miles are 15,159.

Take care,

Zelma

This Week's Update [11/8/15] - Some Big Milestones!

[The Weekly Update is an email that was started in the fall of 2010 to keep family and friends informed of my medical condition and has continued as a review of family activities.  Written by Zelma and edited by Steve. Working on adding past issues to the blog.]

Hi All,

We had a really wonderful week!!!  We were surprised with a couple of days of Indian summer and were able to enjoy riding outside on the canal in near 70-degree weather.

We also marked a major milestone of 5 years since Steve's cancer surgery.  We have been so lucky to have so many skilled medical experts to help him over the years and also appreciate all the support from our family and friends.

We also got to spend the weekend with Sarah, Mike and Olivia and help celebrate Olivia's 2nd birthday today!!!  Life is good.  :-)

Miles for the week are 43, miles for 2015 are 2,866 and total miles are 15,120.

Take care,

Zelma

[Also, too I created a collection of videos and photos of Olivia's first two years.  The video is better in HD and fullscreen.  It's a little long, so get your beverage of choice and sit back and enjoy.]

This Weeks Update [11/1/15] - Getting Ready to Go See Olivia

(The Weekly Update is an email that was started in the fall of 2010 to keep family and friends informed of my medical condition and has continued as a review of family activities.  Written by Zelma and edited by Steve. Working on adding past issues to the blog.)

Hi all,

We had a pretty quiet week.  I was under the weather with a cold and now GJ has one as well.  So far Steve has avoided it.

We started another puzzle last night while waiting for the Trick or Treater's to come by.  [It was a nice evening and we had almost 120 trick-or-treaters, which is the most in long time.]  It is addictive - finally about 1 am I had to give up and get some sleep, but we did finish it this morning.  It's a fall theme Charles Wysocki print with lots of pumpkins.

We are getting very excited because later this week we are heading down to celebrate Olivia's second birthday!!!  Papa has been working on a special video for her.

Miles for the week are 40, miles for 2015 are 2,823 and total miles are 15,077.

Take care,

Zelma
