This Weeks Update [12/27/15] - Merry Christmas

[The Weekly Update is an email that was started in the fall of 2010 to keep family and friends informed of my medical condition and has continued as a review of family activities.  Written by Zelma and edited by Steve. Working on adding past issues to the blog.]

Hi All,

Steve, Matthew and I got into the Christmas spirit this week by doing a Santa puzzle which was an early gift from Ron and Sue.

Since the time lapse Christmas tree decorating was such a big hit, Steve did a time lapse of us building the puzzle.

For a larger view, here is a link to the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mi-u7O0c1E&feature=share.  He makes it look simple and quick. :-)

Today we headed to see Mike, Sarah and Olivia.  Olivia is now the newest Trek bike rider in the family with a bike picked specially by Papa.  [This is the 10th Trek bicycle in the extended family: a 1981 steel model 412, two Navigators now on trainers, four Fx fitness bikes, two Domane 4.3s and Olivia's Mystic 12.]

Miles for the week are 66, miles for 2015 are 3,284, and total miles are 15,538.

Take care,

Zelma

This Weeks Update [12/20/15] - Headed to Christmas Break

[The Weekly Update is an email that was started in the fall of 2010 to keep family and friends informed of my medical condition and has continued as a review of family activities.  Written by Zelma and edited by Steve. Working on adding past issues to the blog.]

Hi All,

Work has been extra crazy with lots of deadlines and unplanned curve balls which has put a delay in getting things done for Christmas. We finally got the Christmas tree put up this week.  Steve did another cool time-lapsed video of the decorating.  Here are the "elves" in action.

Writing out Christmas cards will be tonight  (thank goodness for 1-hour photo cards).

I am so looking forward to having some time off at home for the holidays.  The best thing about Valeant is that everything is stopping on the 23rd, not to resume until the 4th so it should hopefully be an uninterrupted break. :-)

Looks like the weather is going to continue to be good and we are planning to head to see Sarah, Mike, and Olivia during the break as well.

Congratulations to Matthew - fall grades are in and he has made the Presidents High Honor Roll again.  He has also been making good use of the time to work on his thesis.  I am sure his time at home is going to fly by.

Steve and I had another puzzle marathon Friday night / Saturday - this was a Christmas gift from Sue.  The puzzles that are real photos are definitely more challenging than the folk art prints.

We've been continuing to ride inside.  Miles for the week are 65, miles for 2015 are 3,218, and total miles are 15,472.

Take care and have a wonderful Christmas.

This Weeks Update [12/13/15] - Matthew Home for Winter Break!

[The Weekly Update is an email that was started in the fall of 2010 to keep family and friends informed of my medical condition and has continued as a review of family activities.  Written by Zelma and edited by Steve. Working on adding past issues to the blog.]

Hi All,

After a busy week of final exams and finishing up term papers, I picked up Matthew Friday afternoon to come home for winter break. Not sure where all the time has gone the last 3 1/2 years but the only thing standing between him and graduation in May is completing his Honor undergraduate thesis.  He will be working on that full time during the break with the goal to complete his first full draft before returning to campus late January.

We have had unseasonably pleasant weather (40's and 50's) for all of December - much better than last year when I went to pick Matthew up in a blizzard and ended up staying the night in Oswego.  It would have been warm enough to attempt riding outside a few days except for the wind.  We look like we are going to have similar weather this week as well.

We are continuing to ride inside and have a stockpile of new puzzles to do.  Matthew helped us with the one we did over the weekend.

Miles for the week are 52, miles for 2015 are 3,153, and total miles are 15,407.

Take care,

Zelma

This Weeks Update [12/6/15] - Great News!

[The Weekly Update is an email that was started in the fall of 2010 to keep family and friends informed of my medical condition and has continued as a review of family activities.  Written by Zelma and edited by Steve. Working on adding past issues to the blog.]

Hi All,

We got wonderful news at Steve's oncology appointment.  The radiation treatment had the desired effect on the one lesion in his liver and no signs of any new progression elsewhere.  We get another 4 months off from appointments!

We have another new puzzle picture to share and continued riding.

Miles for the week are 78, miles for 2015 are 3,101, and total miles are 15,355.

Take care,

Zelma
